The People of Aikido Kenkyukai: Chris ZiliottoNov 10, 2016
“I definitely owe a good chunk of my calm demeanor and confidence to Aikido…Aikido is like the yoga of martial arts and many consider it a form of movement meditation.”
- Chris Ziliotto, 18
- AKI Santa Barbara
Chris, who began at age 11, has been training with Suzuki Sensei for 7 years. Brought by his friend to the Santa Barbara Dojo, Chris says he merely “forgot to quit.”
Having recently tested for the rank of Shodan, Chris now leads children, teens, and adults classes at the Santa Barbara dojo, with the occasional visiting black belts.
Apart from training, Chris attends Santa Barbara City College and hangs out with friends. He’s acquired new hobbies such as surfing, dancing, and painting.
Although juggling aikido, school, and work can be stressful, Chris’ calm personality helps him cope.
Those who wish to train with Chris will find him leading classes at the organization’s Santa Barbara dojo every Monday and Wednesday and taking Suzuki Sensei’s classes at the Santa Barbara and Los Angeles dojos other weeknights.
